Last Sunday we began learning a “new” (old) hymn, “From Whom All Blessings Flow (Psalm 100).”
This hymn setting combines several textual and musical elements. The verses are an adaptation of the hymn “All People That On Earth Do Dwell,” by William Kethe, set to the tune of OLD 100th. The chorus uses the last stanza of a lesser-known hymn by Thomas Ken, “Awake My Soul and With the Sun.” This final stanza of Ken’s hymn is commonly sung as the Doxology, and is here set to new music.
