Hi friends! I want to let you know about an exciting new project I’m working on.
“Awake, My Soul” is a daily devotional of 365 hymn texts from throughout church history, spanning the Middle Ages to 1900. The book will be a mix of well-known and lesser-known hymns. Each hymn for the day includes a suggested tune and a short devotional, similar in content to what I might say to introduce a song in our corporate worship services. The book will be cloth-bound, hardcover, two-color printing, and will include a ribbon. Although the book is intended to be used daily, the following seasons are marked in the contents, allowing the reader to adapt the hymn of day as desired:
- Passion week (Palm Sunday through Resurrection Sunday)
- Advent (beginning the fourth Sunday before Christmas—in 2023, December 1)
- Christmas (12 days)
I’ll also be making recordings of all 365 hymns for those who wish to follow along and sing them.
